Abstract
A general analysis of Danish agricultural policy before and after joining the EC. A period of strong optimism followed the entry. Higher EEC prices were integrated into increased land values. But market and price expectations soon appeared to be too optimistic. Danish agriculture went into an acute liquidity crisis, due to dramatic levels of indebtedness. A a rule, Danes would favour liberal policies on the long run. But the author is aware that short term obstacles are to be taken into account.
