Abstract

Animal products in French agricultural production - The importance of animal products in French agricultural production has declined over the last ten years, after increasing steadily since the end of the nineteenth century. In comparison with crops cultivated on a large scale and intended for direct sale, animal products have not the same productivity and marketing possibilities and do not bring the same income. In this respect, French agriculture is in an exceptional position when compared with the other E.E.C. members. If the prevailing conditions are maintained, animal products are likely to be increasingly limited to regions with no other possibilities, in particular in grass-growing areas.
