Abstract

From the Letter of Transmittal: I have the honor to transmit herewith the proceedings of the Third Annual Good Roads Convention of the Boards of Supervisors of the State of New York, held at Albany, N. Y., January 28 and 29, 1902. This report contains much valuable information on the road subject, and will be very useful to all who are studying the question of State aid. Many of the Southern and Western States are contemplating legislation with reference to State aid, and numerous inquiries are being made concerning the success of the plan where heretofore tried. New York being the leading State, and having applied the State-aid plan in an improved form most successfully, I have no doubt that the copious information brought out at this meeting of the boards of supervisors of the State of New York will be very interesting and beneficial to people in many of the other States. The illustrations were furnished by the office of the New York State Engineer and Surveyor.
