Abstract

Excerpt from the report: Over 3.6 million different persons did some farm wage work during 1962. This is slightly greater than the 1961 total of 3.5 million, and about the same as that for most other years since the Korean War. The 1962 estimate of the farm wage force is the latest in a series that has been published for most years since 1945. It is based on data collected for the Economic Research Service by the Bureau of the Census as a part of the December 1962 Current Population Survey (CPS). Included are the latest information on duration of employment, annual earnings, and composition of the hired farm working force in the United States. The 1962 survey also obtained special information on household characteristics
