Abstract

Excerpt from the Report: U.S. exports of farm products totaled $6,383.3 million in calendar year 1967, second only to the record $6,881.2 million of the previous year, when exports of a number of major commodities were the highest of record. Exports for dollars dropped $470.8 million to $4,846.1 million from the record level of 1966. Although exports of wheat and feed grains showed the largest declines from a year earlier, commercial exports of wheat were second only to the 1966 record high and dollar shipments of feed grains were exceeded only in the 2 preceding years. Exports of rice continued their upward trend, topping $300 million for the first time in a calendar year. Shipments of tobacco again set a value record. Exports of oilseeds and products were slightly higher due to larger exports under Government programs, while shipments of animals and products, fruits, and vegetables were lower than a year earlier.
