Note
In May 1960 the United States Department of Agriculture executed a long-term projection research contract with Mercantile Inc. (Robot Statistics Division), Manila, Philippines. The research constitutes a part of the Department's effort to evaluate the long-term prospects for the supply of and demand for agricultural products throughout the world. In specific terms, the study was initiated to determine the long-term projections of supply and demand in the Philippines for selected agricultural commodities, and to assess the country's import demand for these commodities in 1965 and 1975. The above research study was published by the U. S. Department of Agriculture under the title: "The Philippines: Long-term Projection of Supply of and Demand for Selected Agricultural Products" (ERS-Foreign-34), in March 1963. The major findings of the above report are now summarized in this shorter report. The conclusions are set forth, and the implications of the projections to U. S. agriculture are presented.
