Abstract
The promotion of the regional revitalization in Japan through rural homestay is actively implemented as a means of systematic structuring of agribusiness in harmony with agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. In order to study this topic in depth, an analysis was made by utilizing 16 farms practicing a homestay program in Ajimu-machi(town), Oita Prefecture, a well-known region for advanced agribusiness. The town promoted the relationship of mutual existence that cherishes rural life, giving pride and self-esteem to the rural residents, and leaving impressions on urban visitors. In this sense, the experience of Ajimu Town has shown the potentials of the Japanese-style green tourism, and it focuses on rural life itself rather than preparation for special menu. The administrative officials actively supported the activities of the Research Association of Green Tourism and gave confidence to the hosts of rural homestay programs.
