Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine which factors are the most important to the rural life conditions of female migrants of international marriage and to suggest some support ways for their adaptation in Korea. In order to complete these works this study used the data on international marriage migrant women residing in rural communities of Jeonbuk province. The data were collected by Jeonbuk Development Institute. From the data analysis, this study found that the rural lives of international marriage migrant women are considerably different by their nationality, family economic conditions, husband's personal information, understanding of Korean language and culture, family support for their participation in outside meetings and education, the conditions of their current work, and husband's share of houseworks. Given those findings, this study suggests some assistance policies for the international marriage migrant women.
