Abstract

Genital tract swabs were randomly collected from 50 female buffaloes from two slaughterhouses for isolation and identification of Campylobacter sp. Different bacteriological techniques (culture, staining, biochemical tests and others) were used for the continuation of Campylobacter sp. and C. jejuni or C. coll. Isolated pathogen was inoculated into non-pregnant and pregnant mice for the identification of species and it was confirmed that C. jejuni caused abortion in pregnant mice. Placentitis and congestion were found in the gravid uterus of the pregnant mice at late stage of the pregnancy.
