Abstract

The experiment was conducted to compare the effects Azadirachta indica .,..Trigonella foenum-graecum, Olea europea, Coccinia indiaca and glibenclamide on some serum parameters in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats. Streptozotocin induced diabetic rats were treated with Azadirachta indica , Trigonella foenum-graecum, Olea europea, Coccinia indiaca and Glibenclamide for 21 days. All herbal preparation having significant (p<0.05) lowering effects on serum cholesterol, triacylglycerol, SGPT, SGOT, urea and creatinine level as compared with a patent drug glibenclamide. From this study it may be concluded that these herbal preparations greatly reduced the complication of diabetes mellitus following administration. But further study is needed to identify about it side effects.
