Abstract

The experiments were carried out on Red Terrace soil at . Madhuput farmers' field and Old .Brahmaputra Floodplain soil at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) farm to investigate the response Of placement of Nimin coated urea and urea super granules on rice. The soil at the 'experimental site at Madhupur was characterized by loam texture, strongly acidic in reaction and poor in nutrient status.. At Bangladesh Agricultural University farm, the soil was silt loam in texture and mild acidic in reaction with moderate nutrient status. Point placement of Nimin coated urea super granules produced significant yield increase of rice compared to urea applied broadcast 'without Nimin coating on both the soils. Maximum yield increases of rice were found under point placement of urea super granules coated with Nimin before briquetting in both the soils,. at Madupur farmers' field and BAU farm. Yield increases of rice grain under point placement of urea super granules coated with Nimin before briquetting were 105.52% over eontrol and 58.15% over urea applied broadcast without Nimin coating in Red terrace soil, while in Brahmaputra Floodplain soil, the yield increases were 92.75% and 55.23% respectively.
