Abstract
Due to socio-economic and political influences, extension in South Africa is currently re-organising itself. This reorganisation should be planned and done with a long-term perspective. To achieve this end, some short term measures will have to be taken. It is suggested that the inherited organisational structures be abandoned and replaced by nine regional agricultural development corporations (RADC), consisting of an amalgamation of existing development corporations and the government extension services to function within the framework of the nine development regions of South Africa.
