Abstract
This study used a joint multilevel probit model to examine the determinants of nutrition label use and the relationship between mother’s nutrition label use and children’s propensity for being overweight. We found that the mother’s concern for health, breakfast with family, mother’s education level, as well as her employment status have impacts on how the mother
uses nutrition labels. The estimation results also showed that the effect of
siblings is significant while mother’s nutrition label use and children being
overweight are negatively correlated.
