Abstract

There are four major types of wine: table wine, dessert wine, sparkling wines and champagnes, and vermouth. Greatest attention is focused upon table wines because of the prominent role they have come to play in the industry. In 1960, only 30% of all wine consumed in the U.S. was table wine. By 1970, this percentage had grown to 50 and by 1980 it is expected that 80% of U.S. wine consumption will be of this type.
