Abstract
Various methods can be used to construct input-output data for sectoral modelling. These
methods are broadly classified in the literature as commodity based survey, non-survey and
hybrid approaches. Each approach has its own strengths and weaknesses. This paper presents an
alternative approach to map the flows of goods and services. The case study of generating inputoutput
data for agricultural industries in Western Australia is used to show how value chain
modelling can accurately and reliably provide input-output data.
