Objective: To evaluate the role of eleven mushrooms species in the Monte-Milpa-Traspatio diet of the Matlatzinca ethnic group.Design/methodology/approach: Food Frequency Consumption Questionnaire applied in a sample obtained by the snowball technique in 94 women of the Matlatzinca ethnic group.Results: 30% of the population evaluated is the one that consumes the highest amount of mushrooms 104 g / day and with it the highest ingestion of energy nutrients and trace elements.Limitations on study/implications: This is a simple case study that should be contrasted with findings from similar research in different contexts.Findings/conclusions: It is necessary to promote the consumption of foods such as wild mushrooms, in order to increase the quality of the diet in populations where bioavailability is high.
