Abstract

Objective: Analyze the post-harvest process by which the banana (Musaparadisiaca AAA subgroup Cavendish) passes before its commercialization, to identify the activities that should be better served.Design/methodology/approach: The information was collected through the survey to the workers and a checklist in the field, which was applied to the 32% groups of pakers in the region.Results: The main result was the characterization of the activities of the banana post-harvest process in Cerro de Ortega Tecomán Colima, Mexico.Study limitations/implications: An important limitation for the investigation was the insecurity during the field work which was present derived from organized crime settled in the area.Findings/conclusions: The post-harvest process of the banana is very important because in this point we can prevent diseases such as “rottenness of the crown”, which means that the fruit has less shelf life also it is essential to final presentation.
