Abstract
Food losses in the world are high. The main aspect of this problem is due to damage on crops that leads to the loss of production, and pesticides of synthetic origin are generally applied to control pest organisms; however, they cause health and environmental problems. An alternative is the use of biopesticides, which are effective in the control of agricultural pests with low impact to the environment and health. A review of the topic was carried out highlighting the benefits, their differences and the types of application in the rural sector.
