Abstract

The role that women have played in the development of the farm management profession in the United States, with particular reference to Minnesota and Mid West is examined. Women have mostly worked quietly in the background but for the past decade or so they have become more active in the management. They have won concessions for more equitable estate taxation and are now increasingly becoming involved in professional organisations. This trend of greater participation in professional affairs and the actual running of farms is likely to continue.
