Abstract
The article presents an analysis of selected beekeeping magazines – “Bartnik Wielkopolski”, “Pszczelarstwo” and “Pasieka”. The selection of these magazines was determined by the period of their publication and the research gap that emerged in the context of the analysis of the content of beekeeping magazines, and not only by their bibliographic description. Source material concerning three selected years was collected: 1920 (“Bartnik Wielkopolski”), 1950 (“Pszczelarstwo”), 2003 (“Pasieka”) and evaluated using Bernard Berelson’s content analysis method. Using the so-called categorization key, an explication was made, based on available sources. The moments of transformation of the form of distributed magazines from paper to electronic were also taken into account. The aim of the analysis was to examine what and how was written about in the specialist press for the “beekeeping brothers” at that time, with particular emphasis on capturing the diversity of the described issues. Moreover, an attempt was made to explain whether in the years 1918–2018 the Polish beekeeping press was “sensitive” to the political and social changes taking place in Poland during these 100 years.
