Abstract
The objective of this article was to compare the income structure of community members employed in a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified versus non-certified forest harvesting in communities in the state of Oaxaca. The research was carried out in 2022 through the application in situ of 90 personal interviews, using a semi-structured questionnaire, to community members from a certified community and 62 from a non-certified one. Using descriptive analysis, we obtained per capita income, family income, and income structure in both cases. There is a difference of $35.53 in individual monthly income between the two communities; however, families in the certified community earn $733.10 more. Certification has had little influence on increasing the wages of direct workers, but has discouraged migration processes by generating indirect employment alternatives
