Abstract

This brief research note extends the work of Fiszbein (2017) regarding the lasting eects of agricultural diversity in 1860 on outcomes at the county level in the United States to its eects on institutional quality, specically economic freedom. The baseline specications for agricultural diversity yield very modest, statistically insignicant results for its eects on economic freedom.
