Abstract
Excerpt: This study assesses the agricultural economy of Honduras from a consumption perspective. It looks at the structure of agriculture in Honduras; reviews trends in agricultural production, exports, imports and prices; and assesses the structure of farm incomes and the availability of nutrients and diets of the country's urban as well as rural population. Much of the policy discussion concerns pricing and marketing policies, as these policies are central to both the formation of farm incomes and the ability of households to satisfy their consumption needs. Other policy areas are also discussed, including question of technology development and transfer and land use policy.
