Excerpt: As a basis of developing and practical program of research and development in use of electricity on farms and in rural districts in the Tennessee River basin, this prospectus has been prepared. Available data bearing upon the present and probable future development of agriculture in the basin have been collected and summarized; the progress made in the use of electricity on farms and in rural districts in the United States and other countries has been outlined; the elements that must be considered in setting up a program of rural electrification in the Valley are discussed; and a program of action is tentatively suggested.
