The National Federation of Independent Business surveyed small business owners in 2001 about their banking relationships. The results were released in 2003 in Credit, Banks, and Small Business: The New Century. The study reveals some interesting findings regarding small agriculture-based firms. Banks continue to be the major source of funding for small businesses servicing the agricultural marketplace. However, it is not surprising that agricultural businesses use multiple sources of credit simultaneously.
