Abstract
The Internet is causing businesses to rethink what they sell and what they do, and it is impacting agriculture in ways that have likely been underestimated thus far. It is conservative to say 25% of commercial farmers are now using the Internet, and that can likely grow to at least 40% in the next 18 months. For many rural banks on the electronic frontier that can spell opportunity, while more traditional banks may wonder where their business went.
