Abstract
This study was designed to examine the extent to which farmers have benefited from loans/credit activities of commercial banks in.Anambra Agricultural Zone of Anambra State, as well as analysing the factors affecting accessibility of credit/loans. To do that, two sets of questionnaires were designed and administered to 64 small-scale farmers and six officials of_ the two banks in the Anambra Agricultural Zone of the state, to -gather information and relevant data for study. The small-scale farmers and bank officials were also interviewed to licit more information on the claims and counter_x0002_claims on both sides. Simple descriptive tools and econometrics method were used to analyze the data collected and to examine the impact of certain socio~economic and other variables on loan/credit received. Access to bank loans in the area was found to depend largely on ability of the applicant to provide collateral security. Age, marital status, crop type, · and income are also found to be important and significant determinants.of access to agricultural loan in the Zone.
