Abstract
The most challenging food security issues for Fiji toward 2010 are sustaining domestic food production levels in line with food demands and market potential, and continuing the transition from subsistence to semi-subsistence and commercial agriculture. The objectives of this study are to assess food security problems, identify effective strategies and formulate appropriate policy options for solving the respective problems. The main study subjects are food security risk-coping mechanisms and institutions, and government policies and action plans to improve food security.
