Excerpts from the Preface: The bibliography, Economics of Forestry, 1940-1947, was issued in 1950 by the U. S. Department of Agriculture Library in cooperation with the Charles Lathrop Pack Forestry Foundation, the Forest Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture, and the Society of American Foresters. Subsequently that Library issued a supplement to the bibliography covering the years 1948-1952. Because of the continuing need for an up-to-date bibliography in the field of forest economics, the School of Forestry of the University of California has now compiled a companion supplement to cover the years 1953 and 1954. In order to assure that this bibliography will be a companion to its two predecessors, the same style of citing references and system of abbreviations have been followed as nearly as possible. In addition, the same table of contents found in the U.S.D.A. Library Supplement has been used in this supplement to provide additional continuity between the three bibliographies. The compilation was done by the School of Forestry with the help of the General Library, University of California, Berkeley, while the printing and distribution was handled by the Division of Forest Economics Research, Forest Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture.
