Excerpt from the report: The purpose of this study was to secure information that can aid dairy plant operators in selecting the proper type of cooler and dock loadout arrangement that will best fit a given set of commonly found plant conditions. The major factors that must be considered in selecting a particular arrangement, either for an existing plant or for new facilities, are developed and discussed in detail. Layout plans, operating methods, and special features are presented for 20 common types of arrangements, including a description of the conditions in which each would have direct application. The report also includes a cost comparison of the various arrangements and conclusions on the effect of cost on the selection process
