Abstract
Excerpts from the report: This study discusses distribution of bread from bakery to retail store. Data were obtained on costs of labor, equipment, and material for obtaining the retail order, assembling it, loading the truck, and delivering to retail outlets. The objectives of the study were: to observe, describe, and evaluate the systems presently used for delivering bread items, and to describe alternative systems by which small inner-city retailers may continue to acquire bread items if the direct delivery to their store is no longer economically feasible.
