Abstract
Excerpts from the report Preface: This interim report deals with one season of research on improved methods, devices, equipment, and facilities for the conditioning, handling, and preparation for market of citrus fruits, being conducted under a cooperative research program by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station. Replication of the research is proceeding. Fifty to seventy-five million boxes of fruit are harvested and marketed annually in Florida fresh citrus operations. Because of the importance of more efficient and economical handling systems for moving this fruit from the picking operation to the packing line, information developed from an experimental pallet box system of handling and degreening fresh fruit is being made available before completion of the research.
