Abstract

Excerpts from the report: This report presents the findings of a study to determine the efficacy of different formulations of malathion applied at selected dosages. The insecticide was applied at 1,000-bushel rates of 2 pints of premium-grade 57-percent malathion emulsifiable concentrate, as an ultra-low-volume mist spray and as a water-diluted emulsion spray, 1 pint of emulsifiable concentrate impregnated in 112 pounds of Kenite 2-1, and the standard 1 pint emulsified in water. The objectives of the experiment were to compare the effectiveness of the different treatments with one another and with untreated check lots, and to provide data for comparison with past and future small-bin storage studies. Trade or proprietary names are used in this publication solely to provide specific information. Mention of a trade name does not constitute a guarantee or warranty of the product by the U.S. Department of Agriculture or an endorsement by the Department over other products not mentioned.
