Abstract

Excerpt from the report Introduction: Alaskans can choose among a variety of dairy products offered to satisfy their milk requirements. These products range from fresh bottled milk to manufactured and highly concentrated products, and they are supplied from both local sources and sources distant from Alaska. This report provides information about the market for milk in the six largest of Alaska's cities and in the military establishments. The cities are Ketchikan, Sitka, Kodiak, Juneau, Anchorage, and Fairbanks. The report describes the marketing channels followed by the more important dairy products, provides estimates of their sales volume, measures the costs and prices at different market levels, and describes the competitive environment in which dairy products used for fluid purposes are sold.
