Abstract
Excerpt from the report: This report is devoted primarily to a detailed description of the Los Angeles market structure for livestock and meat. More specifically, the objectives of this report are to determine and describe: (1) Geographic and market sources of livestock and meat for the Los Angeles market, (2) the relative importance of the different types of firms in the market and competitive interrelationships among them, (3) the methods and practices utilized in buying livestock for slaughter, and (4) distribution channels for fresh meat and cured pork in the market. Another objective is to compare the competitive structure of the Los Angeles market with that in the San Francisco area as determined from an earlier study.
