Abstract
Excerpts from the report Introduction: Recent sizable increases in plantings of lemons in the desert areas of Arizona and California call for specific information on the storage potential and other characteristics of lemons grown in this environment. Both experimental and commercial experiences show that distinct differences occur in other kinds of citrus fruits grown on the coastal side of the main north-south mountain ranges of California and those grown on the desert areas east of these mountains. This study of the storage behavior of lemons is part of a broad program of continuing research designed to improve the marketing of farm products.
