Abstract
Excerpts from the report: This publication is about one of the most important things in your life—soil. Yes, ordinary soil like that in a park or garden. A glance around you will remind you of your dependence on soil. You don't have to be reminded of food, especially if it is near mealtime. But food is only one of the many necessities that come from the soil. If you are in school or in an office, you will see furniture and books made from wood that once grew from the soil. You'll see clothing of cotton or wool or plastic or leather, all of which came from the soil. Most of your house, even if it is finished in brick or stone, and important parts of your automobile, came from the soil.
