Abstract
Excerpt from the report Preface: A forest is a dynamic community of living, growing things. Although it contains innumerable plants and animals, it is natural for many of us to concentrate our attention on the most prominent—the trees. This booklet deals with the less obvious products of private woodlands and the part they can play in making management of America's 4 ½ million family forests more profitable for the owner and more beneficial to the public.
