Excerpts from the report Preface: The Graphic Summary of Farm Tenure for 1954 is a picture of tenure patterns painted with a broad brush. For many purposes, greater detail and a finer degree of accuracy are necessary. This statistical summary of tenure data is issued to fill this need. So far as possible, data are given comparability, but wherever data are not comparable because of sampling or definitional changes, explanations are made in footnotes. Some of the data used herein, particularly those for commercial farms only, are estimates based on reports for a sample of farms.
