Abstract

Excerpts from the report: In many rural areas throughout the country both electricity and liquefied petroleum (LP) gas are available for household use. Factors to be considered in choosing between the two include kind and cost of appliance; cost of installation of fuel supply and appliance; maintenance and operation, including fuel cost; and performance that meets the needs of an individual family. This publication—intended mainly for use by extension and home service leaders, teachers, suppliers of electric service, dealers in LP-gas, and others who work with consumers—discusses chiefly the fuel cost of operating ranges, refrigerators, and water heaters with electricity and LP-gas.
