Abstract
The principal objective of this study was to investigate the nature of the rela.tionships between income and selected social and economic characteristics. In this paper those particular aspects of the research dealing with rural-urban differences in the role of education are emphasized. While a number of variables were examined in the attempt to account for variations in income (5), particular attention was devoted to the relationships between income and education in its many forms. More complete knowledge of this relationship was expected to be useful in designing and implementing appropriate policy programs.
