Abstract

The problem of improving the estimation of cattle slaughter is addressed by (1) making suggestions for a better model specification and (2) exploiting more fully the available statistical information through use of generalized least squares. The results are contrasted with ordinary least squares estimation and illustrated by estimating withholding in 1973.
