The Social Costs of Instability In The U.S. Wheat Industry

This paper examines the social welfare losses from instabilities in the U.S. wheat market during the 1972-77 period. The supply curve shift due to fluctuations in producer returns plus the deviations about market equilibrium due to price, yield and acreage fluctuations are used in evaluating the social welfare losses.
