Abstract

Electronic markets have been suggested as one means of reducing impacted pricing problems associated with thin transparent trading of agricultural products. An experimental daily electronic auction was conducted for 31 weeks for slaughter hogs in Ohio. Results show competitive price enhancement, improved price-quality relationships and greater pricing efficiency.
