Acreage diversion programs are evaluated using the Economic Research Service's Food and Agricultural Policy.Simulator. Multipliers are estimated for incremental diversion of one million acres. The results suggest that long—term diversion programs may be an efficient method of raising farm income while reducing Government outlays.
