Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the relationship between editorship location and the distribution of authorship affiliation in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, a subject which has not been previously considered. For the analysis, contributions were classified by affiliation with 1) educational institutions, 2) USDA and other government agencies, and 3) all foreign sources. Another classification involved contributions which originated from the location of each editorship considered in the study. Nonparametric test results indicated that changes in editorship location have been accompanied by significant changes in the distribution of authorship affiliation over the period 1944-1978.
