This article briefly reviewed the history of fishery resource management, especially the basic laws, concepts and basic techniques of aquatic resource management in Japan. It was concluded that the experience of management systems, basic methods, etc. in Japan, as a county that has earlier protected and managed aquatic resources, is worth learning by the establishment of China's aquatic resource management system.
