Abstract

This study, preliminary in nature, outlines from a whole farm perspective the economics of alternative cropping sequences in the Saginaw Valley. The investigation considers: (1) the yield relationships; (2) use of seed, fertilizer, herbicide and insecticides; (3) labor and machinery requirements, and (4) crop and input prices. Sixteen cropping sequences are ranked according to net returns to land.
