Abstract
Levels of livestock and poultry Production consistent with expected trends i consumer demand for beef, (fed and nonfed), pork, and poultry are specified for tne 1980's. Consumer demand for red meat and poultry is estimated as a function of income; the demand for individual meats is constrained by overal demand but allocated on the basis of historical trends and judgement. The composition of the livestock and poultry population necessary to support thi level of consumption is based on a specific set of assumptions and is maintained at a level to avoid cyclical production patterns.
