Abstract

Unlike point-source contaminants, agricultural contaminants of ground water are often stochastic in nature •. Chance constrained programming model results for a representative Virginia dairy farm demonstrate that when the stochastic nature of nitrate loading to ground water is considered, costs of policy implementation increase substantially over simply using deterministic constraints.
